JP Morgan has swooped for two modern capesize bulkers from Peter Weernink’s SwissMarine amid rising confidence and steel values at the top end of the dry cargo market.

The big-spending US bank has bought the 182,000-dwt Cartigny and Chevrier (both built 2016) from the Geneva-based bulker giant.

A price of between $45m and $46m each is understood to have been agreed for the Japan Marine United-built vessels, which were initially contracted at $50m each.
