Greece’s Avin International has concluded a lucrative deal to sell a 22-year-old product tanker for demolition.
The Athens-based company confirmed that it has sold the 45,000-dwt MR2 Platinum (built 1996) for $495 per ldt, with delivery in Bangladesh.
The deal was handled by Athens-based Allied Shipbroking, with Singapore’s Wirana Shipping said to be the buyers.
“We managed to achieve one of the best demo prices noted this year so far,” said Panagiotis Kyparissis, Avin’s commercial and sale-and-purchase manager.
