CSCL has penned five of the behemoths, with Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering and Samsung Heavy Industries thought to be in the running for the contract.
CSCL, which lost over $100m in the first three months of the year, is keeping quiet about further details until the final contract is rubber stamped.
Its move comes just a couple of months after the first of the 20 Maersk giants, named Maersk Mc-Kinney Moller after the late, great shipowner, was launched at Daewoo Shipbuilding.
