Thecatamaran is intended for operation on the 39 nm route from Naoetsu Port in theNiigata prefecture to Ogi, the southernmost port of Sado Island.
Thevessel will be designed to transport 700 passengers and will have capacity for sevenlarge trucks and 98 cars, or in car only configuration 173 cars.
SadoKisen has a fleet of conventional car ferries and jet foils, however with anoperating speed of 30 to 34 knots the new Incat Hull 068 will be its firsthigh-speed ro-pax.
