Mitsui OSK Lines (MOL) and NYK have ordered the ships against 20-year charters to compatriot Tokyo Gas, confirming news broken in this week's printed edition of TradeWinds.
The two 165,000-cbm vessels will be the first ships to be ordered with an SPB-type LNG containment systems in almost 25 years.
Both ships are due for delivery in 2017 and will be used to ship LNG from the Cove Point LNG project in the US to Japan.
