MPC said the deal, carried out with Thien & Heyenga (T&H), will see the Ahrenkiel containership fleet merged with MPC Munchmeyer Petersen Steamship and T&H to form Ahrenkiel Steamship.
The company will rank "among the world's top ten managing owners in the container sector”, it added.
The acquisition is another example of German consolidation in the face of consistently weak shipping markets over recent years.
