Oslo-listed Jinhui has booked a 60,000-dwt bulker at Oshima Shipbuilding in Japan.
Jinhui tells investors it is paying $29.10m for the vessel, which will be delivered in May 2016.
The owner was an active buyer before the financial crisis but has spent the period since accumulating cash, although that pile slipped a little in the past year.
It explains the new ship will complement its existing fleet without offering great details as to its strategy.
