The 102-metre trimaran hull 270 has gone to UK operator Condor Ferries for $61.5m ($57m), it said.
An option to purchase the ship had been agreed in January, but Condor reportedly needed more time to see if the UK government would fund a $17m upgrade for the port of Weymouth to accommodate the new acquisition.
Hull 270 will remain at Austal’s shipyard in the Philippines for customer modifications, valued at AUD 6m.
