Sources say the Samsung-built 309,000-dwt Ulriken is being sold by the Frontline subsidiary Independent Tankers for $27m.
UK-based online platform VesselsValue claims Ulriken is worth just $20.2m.
The tanker passed special survey in January this year. It was earlier on long-term bareboat charter to Chevron at $28,500 per day, but has in later years been operating spot.
The subjects on the deal are believed to be on the seller's side.
