It has sent the 2,100-teu Altavia (built 1995) for demolition in India, brokers and cash buyers say.
A price of $535 per ldt is placed on the deal, bringing in over $5.5m for the seller.
GMS described the sale as “show-stopping” given the remarkable fee secured for the ship.
Altavia is one of four 1995-built boxships in the German owner’s fleet of 16 bulkers and container vessels, according to Clarksons.
