TradeWinds reported last week the 179,000-dwt Camilla Bulker (built 2009) had been sold to Marmaras Navigation in a deal worth $40m.
Peter Borup, president of Lauritzen Bulkers, confirms the ship had been sold but declines to disclose any details regarding the price or the buyer.
He says the sale is likely to be followed by further capesize disposals.
“We don’t want to be in capesizes,” he said, explaining he would rather have the capital to deploy in the core supramax and handysize segments.
