Cash buyer GMS says as many capes have been scrapped in the opening weeks of 2015 as were disposed of in the whole of 2014.
It counts around 15 capes scrapped this year, equalling the tally for last year.
“This is a trend that looks set to run in the dry sector, regardless of poor demo levels, for the majority of this year,” its weekly report said.
