Scorpio Tankers executives predicted a slowdown in products tanker newbuilding activity and hinted at a tempering of its own expansion following a strong third-quarter performance.
President Robert Bugbee said the recent ordering, including some from Scorpio, had been driven by owners looking to get in ahead of the introduction of Tier III emissions regulations.
“We would expect ordering to slow down pretty quickly,” he said during a conference call, explaining quality yards were now pretty well full for 2017.
