South Korea's top three shipyards axed 3,000 jobs in 2015 as they sought to stem losses.

Industry data cited by the Yonhap news agency showed that, including sub-contractors, Hyundai Heavy Industries (HHI), Samsung Heavy Industries and DSME cut 5,000 positions in total.

HHI reduced its workforce by 1,300 and DSME shed 1,400, while a state bail-out agreed last year will see it axe another 10,000 staff from the end of this year.
