Hyundai Heavy Industries (HHI) lost a reported KRW 608bn ($523m) on delayed projects last year.
Industry sources cited by the Yonhap news agency said the shipbuilder ran into problems with deadlines and work suspensions on ships and offshore facilities.
The figure represents 2.5% of its revenue for 2015.
