DFDS has continued its fleet expansion by exercising an option to acquire a ro-pax ferry from Italy’s Grimaldi Holding for DKK 300m ($44.9m).
The Danish ferry operator has had the 22,993-gt Athena Seaways (built 2007) on charter from Grimaldi since December 2013.
It has been deployed in the Baltic on either the Kiel-Klaipeda or Karlshamn-Klaipeda routes, mainly carrying driver-accompanied trucks and passengers travelling in their own cars.
