Japan’s Nisshin Shipping has returned to the newbuilding market for a raft of bulkers having sold off more than 20 vessels over the past two years.
Tokyo-based Nisshin is said to have contracted China’s Jiangsu Hantong Ship Heavy Industry for up to seven kamsarmaxes. It is also understood to be exploring further kamsarmax tonnage at Japanese yards.
Industry sources say Nisshin has booked five firm 82,000-dwt bulker newbuildings at Hantong for delivery in 2018 and 2019.
