Germany’s Meyer Werft and Italy’s Fincantieri now rank among the world’s largest shipbuilding groups in terms of the value of their orderbooks thanks to the recent cruise contracting boom.

The German yard confirmed an additional order for a 135,000-gross-ton (gt) cruiseship from Disney last week, a deal which fills its Papenburg yard up to 2023 with 12 cruiseship orders valued in the region of $10bn.
