Philly Shipyard is moving to sell its plate facility in a move it says will allow it to focus on its core shipbuilding business.

The Oslo-listed, Aker Capital-backed yard announced on Tuesday that it had signed a term sheet with Avalotis Industrial Services for the transfer of its steel blasting and priming facility.

“We are excited to pursue this new opportunity with [Avalotis], having worked with Avalotis Corporation on many past coating projects,” Philly Shipyard chief executive Steinar Nerbovik said in a statement.
