Norway’s Hunter Group has revealed why it decided to offload its remaining VLCCs at a time of great geopolitical uncertainty.

The Oslo-listed owner banked $383m in June for its four modern tankers, with Angelicoussis Group’s Maran Tankers and DAO Shipping of the UK taking two each.

The company said that although rates have increased significantly over the last three months, with VLCCs at $60,000 per day, “it is certainly possible to argue that there are some clouds on the horizon”.
