Italy’s navy is turning to the merchant tanker fleet to solve an urgent shipping capacity problem.
Naval News reported that a tender has been launched for the charter and eventual purchase of a vessel to load, store and transport F76 naval fuel.
The ministry of defence’s Naval Armament Directorate (NAVARM) has specified that the tanker will be chartered for a year and run by a civilian crew.
