Fighting has started for control of two Libyan oil terminals as the country's east/west split deepens.

Hundreds, possibly thousands, of armed men had been gathering around the Ras Lanuf refinery and the Sidra terminal in the last week.

The BBC said forces loyal to eastern warlord Khalifa Haftar have now launched an offensive to seize both.

Ground, sea and air forces have begun fighting a rival Islamist militia, a Haftar spokesman said.
