Saudi state tanker owner Bahri is planning to re-flag all its 37 VLCCs to the domestic register.
The company said five mid-sized carriers would also be moved to the Saudi flag, in conjunction with the Public Transport Authority (PTA).
The 299,000-dwt newbuilding Amjad is the latest tanker to join.
Bahri said the move was "in line with the remarkable shift and growth the transportation sector in the Kingdom has witnessed in the recent past.
