Frontline's strategy of clearing out ships built before 2000 has left the leading tanker owner with just one, the 150,000-dwt Front Ardenne (built 1997), which is expected to be disposed of soon.
TradeWinds understands the sistership, Front Brabant (built 1998), has been sold for $9m and will cease trading as a conventional tanker. It has been owned by John Fredriksen-led Ship Finance International, which has it on charter to Frontline until early 2021.
