Rates for tanker shipments from Qatar are expected to rise following the ending of diplomatic relations by a group of other Arab nations.

Oil and shipping sources told Reuters that demand is increasing for suezmaxes and product tankers after the UAE barred vessels from docking if they had previously visited Qatar.

Buyers were said to be splitting cargoes on to suezmaxes to load separately in Qatar and the UAE, rather than using VLCCs to combine stems.
