Diversified Bergen-based shipowner EGD Shipholding, which doubled its profits last year, is seeking to expand its tanker operation, Victory Tankers.
Managing director Magne Ovreaas says the company is primarily looking to buy tankers less than 10 years old and phase out its elderly tonnage. EGD still has two ships built before 2000.
In October last year, EGD bought the 46,000-dwt Hugli Spirit (built 2005) from Teekay Shipping for $13.2m,
