Gerd Wursig, segment director for alternative fuels at DNV GL, says the ship of the future is ready to order today and there is already growing interest from owners in building the most futuristic, alternative-fuel-concept ship design available.

DNV GL’s modestly named Perfect Ship — also known as the Piston Engine Room Free Containership — is an LNG-fuelled, 20,000-teu ultra large containership powered by a combination gas and steam turbine, in addition to being electrically driven.
