Shell has chartered an LR2 product tanker newbuilding from Eletson Corp in a deal that will last a year.
The Anglo-Dutch energy giant has fixed the 115,000-dwt Salamina (built 2018) from the Greek shipowner for about $15,000 per day, European shipbrokers report.
Eletson, which controls 32 ships and eight newbuildings in the tanker and LPG carrier sectors, ordered the Salamina at Shanghai Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding for $50m in October 2015.
