New rules for tankers in the Turkish Straits have led to increased delays that are likely to worsen in winter.
Shipping sources told the Platts news agency that from 1 September, ships of more than 250 metres in length have needed a pilot on board and a tug escort through the Dardenelles.
The same applies to vessels of more than 200m in the Bosporus.
