The Russian tanker owner had gone to the appeals court in London earlier this month in an attempt to overturn the original 2010 fraud trial verdict that these aspects of the case fell under Russian law.

As a result of the decision, the court didnot consider other issues on appeal, which only arose if English law were to beapplied.
