Swedish trio team up

Three Swedish tanker owners are teaming up to form Gothia Tankers in an operation that will control over thirty ships.

The initial fleet of product tankers will comprise fifteen vessels between 5,000 and 10,000 dwt and a further eighteen ships between 10,000 and 40,000 dwt.

“The purpose is to provide extended optionality to our clients with a wide range of quality ships in different sizes,” Gothia Tankers said.

Stefan Magnusson, chartering manager at Furetank Chartering Sweden, said: “The network will combine efficient and reliable tanker management with extended optionality to our existing service.”

“By providing extended optionality to our clients with a wide range of quality ships in different sizes we aim to offer increased benefits by having the right sized ship in the right position at the requested time,” says Thun Tankers chief commercial officer Joakim Lund.

“Maintaining our well established brands whilst we are creating a marketing alliance gives us the opportunity to broaden the offer to our customers and provide them with the best solution and knowledge that our cooperating organizations can offer,” says Soren Weinreich, managing director at Furetank Chartering Denmark.
