The possibility that India, China and even Argentina coulddevelop shale reserves along the lines of the current trend in the US has theprospect of chilling optimistic projections for increased ton-milerequirements, said William J Osmer, general manager of commercial shipping forUS-based Tesoro Maritime Co.

Whether or not the developments come to pass, the point isthat owners do little to place a check on their eternally optimistic marketviews, Osmer said at the annual cargo conference of the Association of ShipBrokers and Agents (ASBA) in Miami Beach.
