Oivind Lorentzen told a luncheon of the Connecticut MaritimeAssociation (CMA) that whether the US decides to lift the ban on all exports ofthe commodity will likely be decided at gas stations in the country.
He said it will be difficult for politicians in Washingtonto “not find a way to share this windfall with the consumer,” referring tosurging domestic crude production.
As a result in the boom in domestic shale oil, upstreamenergy producers are pushing for the administration of US President BarackObama to allow them to export the commodity, which would be expected to help crudetankers.
