It is a case of try, try again for the New Yorker, who had pushed for months to acquire Maersk Tankers’ 15 VLCCs last year but lost the deal to rival Euronav in early January.

Now Georgiopoulos is firmly back in the tanker big leagues with the seven newbuildings, which will be delivered from the third quarter of 2015 into 2016 from South Korean shipyards DSME (five) and Hyundai Samho Heavy Industries (two).
