In a statement the Danish operator noted the deal, which made headlines earlier this week, follows an acquisition that allowed it to pull out of costly bareboat charters under a broader effort to exit the crude segment altogether.
“We have decided to pursue an exit of these unprofitable charters by purchasing the vessels from their current owners with the intention to subsequently resell them at an appropriate time,” said chief executive Morten Engelstoft.
