Scorpio is believed to have taken three vessels from Navig8 in a deal supported by a $140m equity issue, as TradeWinds has reported.
Ben Nolan, an analyst at Stifel, one of the banks supporting the fundraiser, says the acquisition was "somewhat out of character" given the company's stated aim to reap the rewards of previous expansion efforts.
