Teekay says US crude exports will increase tanker demand, though it will take time for market fundamentals to support the uplift.
The New York-listed tanker giant said in its monthly market commentary that last month’s lifting of the 40-year-old ban on most exports from the country will eventually divert barrels currently flowing into Canada.
Instead, the oil will head to Europe, where it will displace volumes from West Africa, which will in turn head to Asia.
