Indian authorities are asking hard questions after the death of four Indian citizens on a tanker off Nigeria.



India's Director-General of Shipping wants to know specifics about the flagging, classification and ownership of a former US domestic trading or "Jones Act" tanker.



The 48,000-dwt ITB Jacksonville (built 1982, renamed Jacksonville) suffered an explosion on 4 September. Initial reports indicated that three Indian members of a 15-strong crew had died while two were missing and 10 more were rescued, some with severe burns.
