Trafigura has secured an LR2 product tanker at a lower-than-expected day rate.
The trading giant has chartered the 110,000-dwt Bai Lu Zhou (built 2017), for a year at $13,500 per day, tanker brokers say. The vessel is owned by China's CSC Nanjing Tanker Corp.
A source with knowledge of the deal says the charter includes an optional second year.
Several brokerage houses assess LR2 period charter rates at about $15,000 per day for a one-year deal.
