The Trump administration has extended the Jones Act waiver for another week as the US struggles with the severe disruptions of the oil supply system in the wake of Hurricanes Harvey and Irma.
Department of Homeland Security (DHS) acting secretary Elaine Duke said the extension would now remain in place until 22 September.
The secretary has also significantly expanded the geographic scope of the waiver to include ports in more US states.
