Tsakos Shipping is close to acquiring a second medium-range-one (MR1) tanker in the fleet disposal of German owner Marenave.
Market sources say the Greek shipping major is in close talks to buy the 37,400-dwt Mare Ambassador (built 2005), which was rumoured to have been sold last week to unidentified parties for $10.6m.
This would be the second Marenave vessel to have been bought by Tsakos.
