The International Salvage Union (ISU) has renewed its call for salvors to be contracted under Lloyd’s Open Form (LOF) in emergency marine casualties following strong indications that this year could set a new low in appointments under the century old salvage contract.
Salvors meeting at the ISU’s general meeting in Livorno, Italy, were alarmed by figures showing that the long-term decline in the use of the LOF has not been arrested despite efforts by salvors and the Lloyd’s insurance market to encourage owners to make more use of the contract.
