For more than a year now, Athens-based Val Enterprises has been chasing Taleveras unit Tadema Shipping & Trading over $523,000 in unpaid charter hire for the 45,000-dwt Alba (built 1987).
Lawyers for the Greek firm say the English Commercial Court awarded that sum in February to the ship’s registered owner, Belda Shipping SA. However, Tadema has yet to comply with the ruling, thus exposing its officers to “potentially very grave consequences”, said Belda attorney Kevin Sach, a senior partner at London maritime law firm Sach Solicitors.
