Dry cargo ships built before 2000 are considered potential scrap candidates these days but the Tsuneishi-built, 74,000-dwt Ever Leader (built 1999) has been sold to an undisclosed buyer for $4.1m, or $1.2m above demolition value.
The ship, which is not due for special survey until March 2019, was acquired from Dr Peters of Germany for an undisclosed price in 2009.
Demolition
In August, First Steamship sold the 74,000-dwt bulker Ever Excellent (built 1998) for demolition for $3m and this year also sold the 75,000-dwt Ever Mighty (built 1996).
