A painful period for the maritime community was brought to an end this week when the 26 remaining hostages from the fishing vessel Naham 3 were freed by their Somali kidnappers after four-and-a-half years in captivity.
They represented the last remaining seafarers taken hostage during the height of Somali piracy in 2012, although it is believed 10 Iranians taken last year, three Kenyans and several soldiers remain captive.
