Norwegian salmon-breeder Gerhard Meidell Alsaker is using his wholly owned holding company, Meidell, to rescue Norwegian private owner Eide Marine, which declared bankruptcy at the end of September.
The move gives further credence to the belief that a number of fishing-related Norwegians are flush with cash and willing to invest in the local offshore sector, where shipowners are struggling to survive the worst downturn in 30 years.
