The 321,000-dwt Oceanis (built 2011) has been chartered at $32,000 per day, sources say. Clarksons says the one-year rate for a VLCC is $30,250 per day.
The one-year rate for VLCCs bottomed out at $28,000 per day earlier this year. But Chandris will struggle to make a profit on the Oceanis. It was reported as having been ordered at Samsung Heavy Industries in 2008 for a full $160m.
