The company that runs the Britannia Steam Ship Insurance Association is to look beyond its offices besides London’s River Thames for a new chairman.

A non-executive chairman has been lined up to replace John Trew, the career protection-and-indemnity (P&I) club manager, who is stepping down as chairman of Tindall Riley from the end of this year.

Trew, 61, is resigning after just 10 months in the top job, with his departure being linked in the market to the failure of an attempt to merge the Britannia and UK clubs and the respective management companies, Tindall Riley and Thomas Miller.
