The annual Peter Gast Schiffahrtsregatta paid tribute to the man whose drive, determination and personality made it one of the most popular events in the German shipping calendar with a minute’s silence.
Peter died earlier this year and it was his wish that the regatta he established should continue and that yachts taking part should not fly their flags at half mast.
