The Terra Nova protection-and-indemnity (P&I) scheme is returning to business as usual with the recruitment of John Hearn, a highly regarded underwriter who has been with the Shipowners' Club for 17 years.
London-based Terra Nova is a facility controlled by the Markel insurance group of Virginia.
Terra Nova has been operating with staff seconded from Markel's Lloyd's operation since veteran founders Andrew Barker, 58, and Michael Newbery, 57, were sent home on gardening leave in October.
